Hi all, I was just wondering if anybody on this site has ever detected a silver crown? There were not many made. And they would have been damn hard to lose (they are massive)
Anyone?

I'll buy any 1949's you find for $1 then, Poohbear :)

(The 1949 ones are silver too).

I found a full crown (silver) when I went hunting with madsonicboating, however, it was an English crown (1840 something - can't remember date now). Have not found a New Zealand crown yet..
There is a good chance I will find one tomorrow or the day after..

I'm sure someone has done just that down at Woolston Park. It's absolutely loaded with them....about one per square meter!

Quite alot of half crowns and silver coins, a few gold rings and silver rings over the years but no gold coins and no crowns - they will be there though - few and far between but there will be the odd silver crown. most likely in really old early settled places where they could have been used as tender, whaling settlements maybe and so on. If someone advertised that they had found one at say Kororeka or Russell then I would not be at all surprised..

Well Karl (Pacific treasure hunter) has just left for home and yes his was a cown. We had a great coupla days of hunting...he's taking 13 or 14 silvers home along with bunch of other coins and last night I found a gold heart pendant with a small ruby and today I found a florin...my only silver for the day. Turns out its a reasonable condition 1891 jubilee and reasonably scarce acording to google. Stoked :)

Will post pics later of all finds
