Hi
I am Brian from Taupo.I dont live near any gold spots but handy to some good beaches.Just looking for some company to detect with.Heading to Opoutere beach toward end of month then down the coast to papamoa. Will stay at camping spots right on or near beach.
I use an AT PRO American ( not the European ) metal detector

Helped a woman find a gold bracelet in a paddock at Rotorua on Friday. What a buzz being new to this. She was so wrapped she gave me $100.00 which I was refusing to accept as I was just pleased to have found it.

Hi Brian

People swim in Lake Taupo I think? Unlike an ocean beach where lost jewellery gets moved around, fresh water swim spots will quite often have treasures that will be in about the same spot they were lost. If you detector has a submersible head, you may in in the money. Have a look around your home patch too
