Must admit I never heard of this but looks like a good way of remembering those good fossicking spots

in addition to using a gps unit or a gps camera.Technology is moving too bloody fast for me.

I like that great going - The only problem is that the Neanderthal mind of some of us oldies is such that it generally takes about a year before we finally learn how to work it all out and then if we take a tea break we have to retrain all over again!

Thanks though for the reference as it will indeed be most helpful - once I have worked it all out.

Does geotagging actually print a little location onto the photo like the cameras which print on the time and date - so that when you take a photo you actually see the satellite co ordinates of the photo location?

To some who know all about this I may be giving you an opportunity to have a good laugh at my expense but you have to remember that I am a relic from the day when telephones had wooden cabinets - genuine Oak - and you had to wind a handle to get the nice lady at the exchange to put you through to the number you wanted and three or four neighbours also shared you phone line - called a party line...When it comes to modern technology I have to admit to being somewhat impaired!

I use geo tagging as I tend to just use my phone as my camera. Just got to remember to strip out the meta data before posting to any forums if the location is sensitive! ;)

Thanks for that. I wondered how others did it. You can see why Kodak went belly-up.

my new camera i got for xmas has a gps built in!!
if i turn the option on, it puts gps data in the photo information (the digital stuff not the actual picture)
and when i upload them to the computer, the program has an option where i can "open in map view"
and that's what it does, opens the map and shows where you where and when it was taken.
exactly where you were, if you take a few pictures and have walked around taking them, each
photo has it's own exact location!!

freaky stuff

Thanks for that info Maverick that's great.

Would you be able to tell what the make and model of the camera is?
