Hi All

Just thought I'd introduce myself.
I've just bought a Eureka Gold, with the intention of finding a nugget somewhere in the fossicking areas, either coast or Nelson area... :)
Also keen to try my hand at other prospecting methods, have a pan and other useful tools for crevicing.

Looking forward to the coming summer months with the lower rivers/creeks for searching...

Cheers
Mike

Hope you enjoy the forum and welcome.....I thought I had better say Welcome now rather than later as I am just heading up to some town up north called Christchurch where I get hopelessly and completely lost and could end up wandering around in hopeless circles for several days trying to work out where I parked my Iron Horse...the last time I parked up there ten years ago I went to put more money in the parking meter and I swear to this day that when I eventually DID find Iron Horse it sure in hell wasnt in the street I parked it in.

Haha its even bloody worse now that half the streets in town are now dead ends with no signage. Its farking frustrating! I went into the square the other evening for a look around and saw the chinese fella who takes photos there everyday had left his tripod and camera bag there from the earthquakes.....he must have had your problem too lol

Cool thanks, Aorere Rivers a bit of a drive, is it worth the drive?

Shame I wasn't into gold prospecting when I used to live up in Takaka, cars and chicks were all I was interested in - WAY back then... :)

I have no idea what its like......I'm staying in Motueka so thought its either the Howard area or the Aorere River(s) as closest. I'm a total newbie with only a few days prospecting under my belt......i do a bit of detecting here in Chch though for kicks.

Was just reading this article about the Aorere, you may find it interesting around the info of the claim that used(unknown if still the case) to be open to fossickers...

I'm hoping to show the family around the Nelson area during the hols, so looking for any suggestions re places to stay where I can go gold hunting while the family amuse themselves. Maybe a motor camp full of 16yo hotties to keep the 17yo boy distracted but with stuff for the little ones to do too? :)

Plenty of places to take care of the family requirements - don't know of any that also have gold other than that which may have fallen out of pockets.
