Be interesting to see what you find as I think that park may only be about 15 years old.

I wish you great luck. I found a gold pocketwatch from 1933 within a week of getting my detector and that was from a park that would have been done quite a bit over the years so you just dont know whats hiding just for you. :)

All the best and Happy Hunting

I went to anther park just of hill road and botanic gardens and had only 30 minutes to hunt as my partner wanted to go home.
I had 7 targets and got following:
2 rusted nails
2 can tips
1 piece of metal from nail clipper

And :

2 one cent pieces dated 1975!

So my first ever try with gold bug and 2 coins :)

I like the color of the paper coin. Given that most hobbies are a black hole you throw money at, that is a pretty good return.

I would have to agree... unless I lived on the south island! I threw lots of money on panning and sluicing but got nothing but specs. but with metal detecting I have made over $600! mainly from that beautiful 18k gold mens ring!

I am still planning a trip to the south island... when I find enough money from detecting... lol!

It's amazing how much money has been lost. I haven't done that much detecting in the last few weeks and my goldies coin count is now at $258 and just over $16 in usable new coinage. I've noticed the finds have slowed down considerably must be all the other detectorists on holiday. Could also be the wife is using my car at the moment so I have to use my bike and when I get to the destination I'm too tired to stand let alone detect, darn crazy city with crazy hills.

By the way folks if you're in Dunedin and see a guy on a bike (or walking next to it for that matter) with a Garrett backpack be a sport and give the poor buggar (me) a tow!!! *8^)

Guardian, i am in Auckland and i do not drive :/ my partner has car our car and drives to work - as for me i have work 7 Minute walk from home :D
so, that is the reason i can only detect within city bounds <3KM - anywhere where i can walk

It another story when we go for a ride to the beach :D

Nothing like Finding silver... unless it is gold! Good going DB! I find that I enjoy finding the silver coins more than finding the gold rings... I like the gold rings cause they pay for the gear so that I can find the coins! lol (and keeps the misses happy ;) )

Have you seen my new gold ring? I put up a new pic of it after sanding it down a bit.
