I wanted to know if any of you can tell me where to get geologic units of NZ as an overlay for google earth. Once you have a basic understanding of how gold deposits form you can use geologic maps to point you in the right direction.
You want to find a fault line and also the best rock type that is the type of rock that has the best chance of having a gold deposit in it.
I want to make a map for NZ of the best spots for my website.
BTW hello from USA I just found this forum happy to see you all.

Hi there Gold_Striker - welcome aboard the NZ gold fossicking forums. Crown Minerals - http://www.crownminerals.govt.nz/ - has a lot of data for consumption. Perhaps you can find what you're after here?

There are some Geological survey maps available on line somewhere. I found one for the Nelson area. It is a LizardTech MrSID Image which you can zoom in and out of and pan around the place. There must be others available. Nulli Illigitimi Carborundum
