Here is some pictures of gold got in a day at the Motorcamp the Wakamarina river. It actually surprised me to get this much at the main beach on the river where people spend all summer scatching around. Biggest bit in there is .22 gramms. Im not too sure why the photos came out as strange as they did but it works.

Hey guys i didnt actually have a way of weighing the gold at the time but im prety sure it was over 2 grams not by much tho. the big bits were all got with mask and snorkel fine stuff got in a sluice. i got this lot in february

Does the water warm up enough in summer, or do you really need a wetsuit with the mask and snorkel? May have to dust off my own mask and snorkel ;)

Gavin, it's usually better to wear a wetsuit when you're using a mask and snorkel. That way you can lie down in the area that you're sniping in, and have both arms free. It'd probably be OK (If the weather was hot enough) to just wear togs or something, but your knees probably wouldn't like it too much.
The only other way really is to wear waders or something and stick your face in the water. But you'd end up with a sore back, wouldn't be able to cover enough area (Wetsuit sniping is far easier) and if the water was warm enough to stick your face in it without freezing your ears off :) you may as well have a wetsuit on.
